This project was very different but still rather challenging, we had to interview a local designer or design studio and ask them a series of questions. There were over a dozen questions and in this case I interviewed Exposed Signage and Aparrel, Travis the owner and director of Exposed was very happy to sit down and talk answer all the questions I asked. Once I had the information I then had to put it into a report the minimum word count for this was 2000 words and I ended up writing over 4500 words so you could have a few glasses of wine before you would finishe reading this report.
That in itself then created a bigger challenge for me as we were not to use the whole report but instead condense it down to around 1000 words which my report ended up being shrunk down to 1200 words. This was really challenging as all the information in the report was important so I had to work out what information was the most important and how could I rewrite it so it still made sense. Once I got the report to a suitable size it was then onto working out what type of publication I was going to use to put all the information into.
With the publication I really wanted to do something different, I had taken this approach with all my projects so how do you not do a standard book style publication that works in both layout style and still make it readable. That is where I came up with doing a report poster. I have not really ever seen one like this so it really made me excited to create something different and unique. The challenges with creating this type of publication was to come up with a suitable type set layout for the report. Be able to use images, make it visually striking and give you the wow factor and still be able to read it without using a magnifying glass or making it as big as a wall in the house.
I as always did research on this type of publication just to try and get the creative juices flowing, I then had to work out what the layout of colours and images would look like then then finish by putting all the body text over the top. I have done a lot of refinements with the body text being on an agle and broken up into segments to stright up and down the centre of the poster. In the end what I have created is a visually striking poster that is readbale and it all ties into together.
